About Manualsmania
- What's Manualsmania?
Manualsmania is a site dedicated to User Manuals, User Guides and Operating Instructions for all major products available in the world. Together with our community of users, we want to build the largest collection of user manuals of the web.
- Why are you doing this?
We believe that all product support information should be easily and freely available in a digital format to everybody.
- Are you an environmental organisation?
No, but by using Manualsmania you can recycle your manuals/guides and therefore help preserving the environment. Manualsmania helps you and you can help the planet. We think it's a pretty good deal for everyone!
By recycling 1 ton of paper we save:
(Source: Weyerhaueser Info)
- 17 trees
- 6953 gallons of water
- 463 gallons of oil
- 587 pounds of air pollution
- 3.06 cubic yards of landfill space
- 4077 Kilowatt hours of energy
How does it work?
- What do I have to do?
If you want to contribute to the website you just have to:
- Signup
- Upload a manual that it's not in the catalog yet
- Enter the information about the manual (brand, title, languages, etc)
- Keep uploading! :-)
In the meantime we will be reviewing your submission and approve/reject the manual
- How many manuals can I download?
As many as you want, there's no limit.
- Do I need to be registered to download the manuals?
No, there's no need to be registered to download the manuals. You need to register only if you want to contribute and share your manuals.
- What manuals can I upload?
You can upload all manuals for products of public interest. This means that you can upload the manual for your washing machine, PC, MP3 player or anything that requires one, as long as the product is publicly available to the consumer public.
To be clear, you cannot upload personal documents or manuals for products that nobody can buy.
- What format do you support?
Due to the nature of our application we prefer to have all documents in PDF format. If you can't get the manual in PDF, you can still upload it and we will convert it. In any case, we would really appreciate if you could make the effort to stick to the PDF format as much as possible.
- I submitted a manual, but it has been rejected with reason "abuse". What does it mean?
We have experienced cases of users who upload material that has nothing to do with the scope of our website. In some cases it's simple lack of attention, but in some others it's a clear spamming exercise. We allow users to have a maximum of 5 manuals flagged as "abuse". Above this threshold the account will be automatically suspended.
In case you disagree with our decision you can always resubmit your manual. After all we are just humans, we also make mistakes :-)
- Why do I have always to enter the CAPTCHA for downloading?
There are 2 main reasons:
- We want to prevent abuse of the service. Our bandwidth should be used by real users, not by robots
- The CAPTCHA program we are using contributes to the digitalisation of books, so while completing the CAPTCHA you are helping this useful project. For more information check: http://recaptcha.net/learnmore.html
- Can I store my personal documents on Manualsmania?
No. Manualsmania is dedicated to a specific type of documents (user manuals, etc) and it's open by nature. Manualsmania is not the place to store your personal documents. You can find other services on the web for this purpose.
Known Problems
- I subscribed, but I never received the confirmation email. What's the problem?
Send us an email to "info at manualsmania.com" from the email account you used to subscribe explaining the situation. We will activate manually your account.
Quick explanation: Some email providers are stopping our emails due to their spamming filters being too strict. We had problems with Hotmail (which should be solved now) and we had random complaints from Yahoo! users. Unfortunately we cannot tell whether the email has arrived as we do not receive any error message from the providers. Sorry about the hassle, but we really can't do more about this.
